Since forming the charity GastroParesis UK this site has now become the story of my personal journey with gastroparesis. I am an insulin dependant diabetic, who has Gastroparesis - which is treated using the relatively new technique of 'Enterra Therapy'.
Gastroparesis can affect anyone, not just those with diabetes. Those without a known underlying cause are deemed as having 'idiopathic gastroparesis'. It is also a recognised side effect in those that have undergone transplant surgery.
For many, gastroparesis can be managed through medication and diet alone. In its severest form tube feeding may be required.
